When starting your marketing career, especially after a sales stint, it's typical for anyone to feel out of place. A lot of marketers, make-up for this by over doing the mundane to demonstrate business. This is often leads to a vicious circle of lowly maintenance work and the marketers garner the reputation of being just about adequate, without ever developing strong marketing skills. Extended over a few more marketers this habit breeds groups of bozos, and is pretty easy for young marketers to get caught in bozocity.
